Wellbeing and you in 2019

Your wellbeing is our priority at GC Education & Skills

Here at the Growth Company Education & Skills, your wellbeing is paramount. We want to make sure that you feel comfortable at our centres and achieve your qualifications and aspirations.

Each of our training centres has a Key Worker, who can work with you on a holistic basis to assist your learning and signpost you to other support services – such as agencies who can assist with things like housing and benefits.

Many of our learners also suffer from anxiety. This can make the thought of learning and assessments very concerning for them, and can result in disengagement from the course. If this is something which you can relate to, the Key Worker will work with you on a one-to-one basis to look at how we can help you in reducing your anxieties and getting your mental health back on track.

We arrange for specialist agencies to attend the centres to provide information which will support you in your personal life. It’s our aim to empower you, so you can make informed choices for yourself – that’s why we often ask learners if they would like to hear from a specific agency or organisation.

The Key Worker will build up a positive relationship with you, and they can refer you into counselling services if it’s something you think you would benefit from.

Ruth Bruckshaw, Key Worker at Longsight Training Centre said: “We’re friendly faces and we’ll always be there for you. We offer a listening ear and offer support through difficult situations – we don’t judge, and are there to listen. Even if you just want a cup of tea and someone to talk to, we can provide sympathy and tailored support.”

We also make sure that we provide plenty of opportunities for you to interact with other learners. Each training centre offers a breakfast club, where you can chat to your peers and get to know your tutors in a relaxed and secure environment.

We also offer enrichment days, which gives you the chance to get out of the training centre and take part in an activity. We’ve found these days to be beneficial for students who have low self-esteem or difficulty making friends. Our charity fundraisers are also a great opportunity for you to build your self-esteem and confidence in engaging with others. By doing something for charity, you’ll get a great sense of accomplishment and feeling of self-worth.

If you’d like to boost your skills and job prospects, make new friends and receive support with whatever problems are bothering you, why not consider a course at one of our training centres?

Your wellbeing is our priority, and we’ll be with you every step of the way.
